Hello, Dear forums members
Well i have a laptop, which cd/dvd reader is not working anymore, dosen't get even the power. So i wanna boot format the disc remove vista and install xp It has SD memory card hole, so i tried to make bootable SD memory card and boot from there, but it failed, didn't boot, then tried to boot the same card by connecting my mp3 with this card to computer, still failed.
I'm asking any help if you know any working way to make SD memory card bootable or if you know any other way how to boot, or uninstall vista and install Xp.
Also i have ipod video 30GB if anyone knows that' i may be able to boot from that, and how to do it, if so.
Any ideas to repair the cd/dvd reader post too.(PS! tried to reinstall drivers. Also i'm not going to take laptop part.)
Also the Hard Drive is in 2 partition, well i copied windows files on the second partition D:\ am i able to boot from there, or should i copy them to C:\ and in command promot should somehow boot??
Cheers, Raimond

I have laptop cd's laying at work, ppl are avoiding them so just lay in dust there ;D
But in any case, check your bios and see the boot order, set to boot from usb first if that's an option or you can pick lan etc... check the bios settings and you'll see what can be done if anything, although there should be a way to boot from usb since you could use external drive to boot from so should be the option in to use usb etc... tho note, you can't just copy/paste windows from windows cd to boot... you need to clone it or create image ie and then burn on hdd- use plugins or smth for it.. or it wont work...GL!

Yes, when i tried to boot from usb, i did the image .iso file with a program that should boot, and set USB Hard drive first in BIOS second was USB diskette on Key and third USB floppy, anyways when i start and press F9 it gives me opinions where i can boot, but it didn't boot. Mayby i also needed windows file and that iso the program made Anyways testing a new thing now, made flash drive bootable now copying windows file to drive, will see if it works, if not i have one other program i found to make bootable disk. EDIT:// Well i got it boot from the memory card, but it only boots the windows first setup where you can format harddrives, and there it dosen't load laptop hard drive, so i could not install windows on it. May it be the problem that if i try to start computer normally it says: "BOOTMGR is missing Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" If it might be the problem please give me instructions to get bootmgr back EDIT:// i think i try to create windows vista bootable usb hard disk to repair the laptop harddisk
