Hey all For all cool ppl that are using firefox, here is how to speed up Firefox- note: it speeds up Firefox reaction time and not speed of internet, for all 56k users it wont help much 1.Type about:config into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequestsNormally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set network.http.pipelining to trueSet network.http.proxy.pipelining to trueSet network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. ( Don't put higher than 30, coz some sites will think u r hammering and will ban u...!!) 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

need lil help ok, i'm looking at firefox plugins from their site and problem i see is that all plugins are unverifyed and some of them have nasty habbit also to take js (java scripts) from sites, meaning that person can modify/change js with malware so what i'm asking is- does any1 know where exactly firefox saves custom config so once system is reinstalled there is no need to dl and install plugins but only replace default config with custom one (as---> "about:config" file)??P.S. And Pingu i went thru that plugin u mention it does the same, well not really it does all the same things but adds also 'popup blocker' and "Page Load Timer" that creates problems to some users and crashes firefox....that's why i rather replace cfg with the one that is tweaked (modifyed) only to that part i really need with no extra stuff- also some plugins on 'official' site can be infected, there was plugin on called something like "hacking source" or simular, which was removed and it was suppose to help u at site crashes as adding option to 'repair' strings at live site- meaning being on it and replacing strings in real time...insteed of that it dl nasty trojan-dropper called "Ichitaro.Tarodrop.a" that then downloaded "Backdoor.Win32.PoisonIvy.a." and it provided a remote malicious user with full access to the victim machine....it's better to set things alone cuz u at least know what u're puting in and the real benefit is that u don't need to dl nothing or use any js from any unverifyed site

Everything you do in about:config can be done in "user.js".
It is usaly located in: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\x.default\ (x is a random string)
%AppData% is most likely: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data

The preferences in fasterfox can ofc be changed to whatever. Its the magic of FierFox. ;D You can turn off the pagetimer and popupblocker. Aswell as configure every thing it does to your liking. (eg: upping network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 30. Allthough 8 is enough.) fasterfox.mozdev.org/fasterfox.pdfLO: WPI?

my is set to 30- all settings are exactly the same as they are writen above but as i wrote before- 30 is limit! anything more and some sites can think u're trying to flood them (sending zombies) and ban u on spot and send report to your isp. But yea firefox has a lot of magic in it and it's d**n nice u can configure it as u wish EDIT: WPI "Windows Post Installer" for end users...once os installed it throws u to wpi which is set at 2 options- one is basic, meaning it install preselected progys, tweaks, app..... and once is advance, meaning i can uncheck some app and tweaks i may not need at that install... i'm doing that cuz i'm sick of reinstalling system and tweaking system (around 100 reg tweaks) progy tweaks as firefox and lame drivers and app install. Why should i do that all the time if i can put all in WPI and lay back and enjoy while it does all for me ;D From lazy person for lazy ppl
