lets talk about the best and worse isp ( internet service provider )
in the UK i have switched from Bulldog to Pipex and i think it was a mistake.
as Pipex although claim to be unlimited download really are not.
what they do is if you download more than 1 gig in a week you get FUP'ed ie they term fair user policy.
in other words monday to friday between hours 5pm and 11.59 pm your connection is placed in with the other high users !!
and it is like swimming in treacle
then on the Friday you are un FUP'ed again
Pipex use to be good ,but for all new customers watch out.
Bulldog may of had a bad customer services wrap but they were very consistent connection.
anyone else have similar experiences

Here in Holland I have "Planet" as my isp. It's very good, they have a downloadspeed for maximum of 3GB, which is good for home users. Planet isn't really a isp for big company's. It's more for home users who wants to have a good and fast internet connection. only the costs are a bit overwhelmed. I pay for my connection 25,95 euros each month for a download speed of 1GB. But during midweek days the speed is reduced to a download speed of 512MB.. So, they should reduce the costs when the speed is reduced. The big company's have "Casema" or "Chello" as their isp. Much higher speed and very expensive. I'm happy with my current connection, and it's quite cheap. So I don't have my worries about it.

i think we in the UK are being throttled ! as 2 big ISPS , BT (British telecom ) and Orange ( www.orange.co.uk ) both have download caps of 2 gig per month i think some cable TV deals are better , but more and more are cutting the amount we can download ( even though speeds have increased a lot over the last couple of years ) we in uk call things like this " Rip Off Britain" ;D

2 gig would be a bit too less for me my average download rat (from may 05 til today) is exactly 3,230.41 gb (just download) and the transfer vol (up- and download together) is at 3,706.77 gb per month thats the average...my record where 9.6 GB in one month (oct 06) lol

in Italy we have 3 main Isps.... italian telecom, tiscali and fastweb... Time ago fastweb was the best, but lately it had financial problems and its been bought around 30% from a suisse agency...atm the best is tiscali (the one i have ...can reach i think 24mb in download or something, i have 12 and 1.5 in upload)....italian telecom instead is the best suckage thing i've ever seen... they say 4 mb/s and actually give you 256 kb/s ....ask durdain hehe...also due to the latest mess about telecom i think in future this company will suck even more...

well officialy world messure as far as i know always goes by 8 - if u have 4 mb (4096 k) u divide it with 8- so it's; 4096 k : 8 = 512 k but i heart that in few places in asia u get 10 % of what u buy - 1 mb is 100 k so they basicly steal 23/24 k from u and even more in higher speeds But i can handle if they steal few Kilo, as long it's not like i think in China where they have limited time u can be on net I heard that to many ppl there died cuz of being behind pc and online gaming so they limited internet to few hours per day Friend from Japan said they have site restrictions there in some part of japan - u can't visit a lot of official game sites, forums and master server of games is down or supervise and adjust to connect to it only for certain time per week, so underground net community is very developt there- she give me one link where they sell tires for trucks and u have to register to view them, but registeration is impossible, u can only register by invite from some1 that's already a member there - and when u get in u have underground stuff to get to gaming sites ?? I try to look and even tho she invite me i couldn't manage to fnish registration cuz it's all in some weird symbols

lol trust the Japs "underground internet " ;D they do like rtcw ET i hear . HongKong has a good internet set up also , if rtcw had taken off there they would ping on servers around 200 ping ( bit like from far side of USA west coast ) but we only ever had one chinese on rtcw demo (we had to ban him for cheating ) anyone have AOL in there Countrys ? we have Tiscali also in UK here it is very inexpensive ,however it has the ( FUP ) FAIR USER POLICY also , if more and more turn to this idea it will destroy the flow of music and dvds

Here in Sweden we have several different companies. I use BBB (stands for Bredbandsbolaget) and I have 100 Mbps. Not sure how much speed it is up and down. I'm rubbish when it comes to technical stuff. It's damn fast though ;D

WOW 100 megs !! ,, i a had heard that Sweden had invested in a good infrastructure with its telecommunications . we in UK will be lucky to have 24 megs as standard by end of 2008 !!
somewhere is a site on the internet which gives speed test ( it performs a quick upload and download and shows results )
upload is normally a ratio of the download ,so you must a good upload speed as well.
you could easily host your own server on that connection for 20 + players ;D

I am useing Tiscali. They sale me a Flatrate, they doesnt mentioned, that the Flatrate is Limited. I thought for 20€, it is unlimited, like i saw unlimited Flatrates from 1&1 for the same price. Normally I pay 20€ per month, but some month ago I had to pay 34€ more, cuz I downloaded to much. I change Provider 100%

Virgin media broadband here. Stay well away. Connection throttled so much that at peak times, connection speed is 40 kbps , meaning that dial up is actually faster. After 5 pm, pings go from about 48 to 400-500, and after 9pm, xfire shows pings well above 3,000. Plus Virgin say it's my computer, and nothing to do with them, when my previous ISP worked just fine. So yeah, virgin = crap. **NOTE** Technical support is also £0.50 per minute and you're in a queue listening to crap music for about 10 mins before you speak to someone, meaning the call is at least £5 before you've even got through. Nearly had a heart attact last time the phone bill came

i have cable modem, not bad tho it has some lags at times but it's from my side as mainboard has issues with pci bus that i'm to lazy to fix up, but we have as standard here 10 or 24 mb adsl but it's screwd up, losing connection not able to connect and stuff, there is new provided called T2 and it does work good but it's not widely spread atm, on major cities ppl use 100 mb or if u have $$ digital 1 gb connection but when i'm there i just take my laptop, park near parlament and hook thru wireless at 'static 0 point' where net is coming from goverment and got their 1gb connection EDIT: i just wish we had like in some usa town road sign saying 'speed limit 12 mb' as they can hook up to net with laptop where ever in that town heart while ago they have something like that in plan for Paris but looking from security side it will enable every hacker to do stuff without trace- would be fun tho
