work on the new mp_assault map is almost complete. as you all know been running the original assault map on the server to get a feel for the dynamics of death match. this will be our version one flag at the place between the big metal doors ( although one door is now moving around ) this way at near time up those surviving the onslaught will have to face off for ultimate victory timelimit set to 14 minutes ( so time for good old scrap ) hatchs and door blown underground ,for subterrean fighting (although no weapons or ammo down there as to discourage camping ) mg42,s are being repostioned for siege war fare ammo , weapons and a few health bags (for lt,s ) are being placed in precise locations (this is the trick for a popular balanced map ) as mentioned above one big gate is moving side ways as a moving shield for either team wishing to launch an attack or a counter attack , gives moving cover. added some new sounds in the tradional way also mixing up the re spawns as to ease up on the spawn killing issues Notice how the flags are now more authentic . this is shot of the moving gate around mid point of its travel , moves slow. to view similar map in action go to A TEAM server mp_assault its a version i knocked up for them.

well seems to running fine
i have left some weapons out of this map to encourage liuts and co operation etc (as for the 1 month the standard map ran , players got to grips with that idea )
tram and dark still out of rotation unless there is demand for them

although the swastica symbols may be a problem as illegal in germany ( if required i can make a special map fix for special cases ) but i think as realism it should stay. although the greeks invented the symbol and it was used by the nazis .. on a slightly differant note ...there was talk of pulling down the huge stadium at nuremburg (where the big rallies were held ) personaly i think they should be kept as in future years when we are all long forgotten they can be seen by tourists interested in the past ,,, as just think if they pulled down old roman stuff etc ! once a few generations have passed things are viewed differantly so some things should remain its all part of our history i know todays generations may look back at the war and say "what a load of nonsense etc" ,but at the time it was serious stuff.
back to the map the gate ( moving shield ) moves very slow , watch you dont get trapped between the crates as crushing is very possible. it runs automatic .

If you tear down all the past then you having nothing to build the future on and so you may 'possibly' decsend back to the past. Of course this would be centuries away but the fact remains that you must build the future based on the lessons learned from the past And the new map is good

By getting rid of the past its also possible for whatever government is in place at the time to completley re-write it until there is no past only the present that matters and no-one will know what truly happens when (now everyone go read 1984-george Orwell!).
Plus if we had no past how are we meant to learn from it, analyse human behaviour based on past traits and predict things for the future.

well put ding. yes its good to read , although i try to find time to get into a good book , as its better to lose ones self in that that get washed over by yet another reality tv trashy soap/program anyways back to the map i found some rough map work in the 2001 version and straightened it out , so runs better ( less lag) as i mention before i did a similar version for ateam if there is demand it can be customized for other server owners ( ie clan/server msg ) sound clips added ( this will mean a separate clip for clans to also have in their game ) as on the Norway map for ateam the ateam music runs in map at start and end. so get those sound clips / music clips also try the new vsay sound 1 ( this is a redone version of my original (removed some of the annoying revive team mate etc , this is more palatable rich

why axis dont have such an anti-camp-wall?
why are there so few spawnboxes in some maps?
in map tank (axis side) and forest (both sides) for example the hole team respawns at the same spawnbox so you will respawn on top of eachother, making a huge pile of teammates, or even worse, respawning inside eachother so nobody can move anymore... WHY? a lot of maps have this (except the standard mp_maps)

why well a lot of these maps i made around oct 2004 and only now am i redoing some of the finer points as you say on original mp maps there are 16 spawns for each team to start spawn and then a further 16 spawns for re-spawn points. and forest yes all spawn in one place at start ( reason is 1 . in old days i only had a 8 player server so didnt call for many spawn entites. 2. its extra work and i was lazy but maps such as trainyard came later and are more comprensive spawning. but at start of game in warmup players can stick to each other ,but not during the match. trick is to always spawn players off the ground and away from solid objects. rich
