info on server # Return to Castle Wolfenstein relies on Internet communication via the IP protocol and UDP ports 27950, 27960, 27965 and 27952. These are the ports that the game uses for connection, message of the day, server browsing, and so forth. www.portforward.com/routers.htm [Punkbuster also uses those ports.] If you are using any type of firewall, either software or hardware based, you must ensure that traffic can pass on these ports. With a simple gateway using Network Address Translation (NAT), there is no limit on outgoing traffic and the game will probably work for client machines, but not servers, without any need to customize the gateway. For more sophisticated firewalls (such as Zone Alarm or Black Ice) you may need to configure the system to allow incoming and outgoing traffic on the ports listed above. The exact steps for doing this are specific to the firewall your are using. For more information you will need to consult with the firewall documentation or manufacturer. We also do not advise setting up a Return to Castle Wolfenstein server for internet use on a machine that is not directly connected to the Internet. The problem is that any gateway router that translates an internal sub-net to a real IP - including NAT with ipForwarding or DMZ - requires that the internal server use an internal IP address, and these machines see clients on your LAN as different addresses from the internet and thus you cannot authorize these clients. Also note these commands (thanks devZero): # net_port - sets the network port to use, default 27960 # net_qport - network port to be used internally by the network system # net_ip - tells the game what the internet IP is of your machine (when using some routers, RTCW may believe the IP is the address of your machine on the local network). These commands would need to be set on the command line, for example edit your RTCW shortcut 'Target' box to "c:\Program Files\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\WolfMP.exe" +set net_port 27960 a5_cmds you forgot the " " so it sees only shuffle i think if people find the above stuff difficult they need to ask them selves should they be running a server

it will show up in local anyways !! the only way to find out if it is showing up on internet is to ask somebody to tell you if its there (as with a router you will never see it in the internet listing so that is normal ) unless you use a modem via the usb and no router. or , wait to see if any one joins the server but sometimes a new server players may not join as its empty etc so best get someone on a differant ip to try to find it if it is not showing then open the ports 27960 in both udp and tcp and the internal ip of computer to the router ie something like 10.0.0.3 etc dont ask me how on your router , because i never come across that make before , email them for more details also on router is there a "dmz" function ? this will work but is risky dmz open all ports in and out ,thus leaving the firewall completely open dmz are usually use on computers acting as servers with no other programs runing on them so you see aron the fault lies with your equipment you need to find out how to open close on your make/model of router in future look for "netgear" or "linksy" those are a breeze to configure

i say again ask your router manufacturer how to open it !! as i said i dont know with your router all routers are differant some easy some hard with a netgear router simply click on portforwarding type in port number to be opened put a tick in the udp and the tcp and thats it !! so i say AGAIN use google or contact your help desk of your router (if only one number put same number at start and end )

no
in local what is the ip address of server ? is it 10.0.0.1 etc orthe default gateway may be ok
that is the local ip address , the router may specify that all outside communications to be sent to that computer
etc ,, the port 27960 is the main one
so players if they know your ip address can connect !?
by type /connect 333.333.222.333:27960 etc
but really the others should be open as well
i always do
27950, 27960, 27965 and 27952. ( although one is for punkbuster ,for 1.4 etc )
another way is , can you use playstaion or xbox on the router ? as these games require same ports opened to alow them on line
so go to your website of the router and look how to connect sony psx and what ports need altering as a thought etc

Now I've got a question; how can I let my server run a map of single player, like your 18 player server rich. And how to put the server config in a cfg file?

to put the server config in a cfg file.
1)open notepad 2)copie the text in the notepad 3)save the notepad (opslaan als) c:return to castle wolfenstein/main)save it under the name serverconfig.cfg
